Terms & Conditions

Last updated: June 12, 2026

Plain English: Sunte is a free tool provided as-is. Use it lawfully, translation quality isn't guaranteed, and you're responsible for any third-party API keys you add.

By installing or using the Sunte Chrome extension ("Sunte", "the extension"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Sunte.

The service

Sunte recognizes spoken Japanese using your browser's Web Speech API and translates the recognized text into English, Korean, or Chinese using a translation provider you select. It is provided for personal, informational, and convenience purposes.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Sunte only for lawful purposes and not to:

You are responsible for complying with the laws of your jurisdiction regarding recording and processing of speech.

Third-party services

Recognition and translation are performed by third parties (including Google's Web Speech and translation services). Your use of those features is also subject to their respective terms and policies. Sunte does not control and is not responsible for those services or their availability, accuracy, or pricing.

API keys

If you choose the Cloud API option and supply your own API key, you are responsible for that key, any usage charges it incurs, and compliance with the provider's terms. Sunte stores your key locally on your device and uses it only to authenticate your translation requests.

Accuracy & no reliance

Machine recognition and translation are imperfect. Translations may be incomplete or incorrect and should not be relied upon for medical, legal, financial, safety-critical, or other consequential decisions. You use translations at your own risk.

Availability & changes

Sunte is provided free of charge and may change, be updated, or be discontinued at any time. Features that depend on third-party services may stop working if those services change.

Disclaimer of warranties

Sunte is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sunte and its authors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use the extension.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the date above. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
